Logrono

A quick post as we are half way for the day - both computers were down at the albergue night.
A tough day yesterday. nearly 30 km, got to the albergue tired with sore feet. Logrono (Logron-yio) is a faily large university city. Many great bars/restaurants and other places of interest - drank a few jaras de cerveza (we´ve moved on from canas to pint sized jaras - the beer goes straight to your feet making the pain recede, purely medicinal). Good albergue, shared our room with mainly young uns´- mostly semi - naked young women, just as well the showers were icy cold (note that these are all Ray´s observations - as I don´t notice such things Kerry!). We packaged a few things , sleeping bag, jumpers etc and sent them on by post to lighten the load.

In Walden, Thoreau says (and I paraphrase) that a man is wealthy in inverse proportion to the possessions he has accumulated (obviously he is not talking about material wealth) and this paradox makes sense on the camino; those with the light packs are envied, while those with heavy packs are pitied. Simplify man!

We are now in Navarette and have another 15 km to Najera. Today we break the 200 km barrier (about a quarter of the way!). Time to move on, another post tinight.

  1. so - is your site now called: "Two dirty old men hobble along the Camino consoling themselves with Thoreau"?
